What are Baffles – Dryer Parts

What are Baffles? A Baffle (sometimes called a Dryer Baffles or lifters), are located on the inner surface of the drum. Baffles are used to tumble the clothes in your dryer. If your clothes are not drying, it could mean your dryer drum baffle is cracked causing it to not agitate properly. If a baffle starts to get loose you may start to hear a banging type noise or thumping. Sometimes coins from your pockets can get stuck under the dryer baffle also causing a ratting or thumping sound so verify that’s not the case before replacing the baffle. Damaged baffles can cause damage to your clothing if they aren’t replaced.
